How can I open my washing machine door to retrieve wet clothes, when the handle has broken. No screws on outside. Please help, my daughter's school uniform is inside!!

Unplug the machine, remove the lid, hold the drum back to get your arm down inside the machine, use a small screwdriver to lever the door catch where it pokes through the door switch. A bit fiddly but usually possible.

FIDO, I thank you so much, taking the top off never occured to me, and because it was Mothers Day, my mum was round and helped me and my husband sort it out. I have dried the clothes and just need to now get the door fixed.

may i suggest you get a new (un) broken part, gluing it will not last
