We have had this washing machine a couple of years. About 2 weeks ago, the cycle selector dial stopped "clicking" as it was turned, apart from at 3 points on the dial - the normal "Stop" -cycle end points.

The wash cycles were selectable, but it was a case of turning the slack dial to a vague point and hoping for the best.

Tonight, after it finished a cycle, the machine would not end-cycle, and the dial kept turning around, humming, without ever reaching a stop.

I took the somewhat "courageous" step of having a look inside the mechanism behind the selector dial. It looks to me like a plastic ratchet* tongue has broken at some point.

Anyone know where I can get another one of these switches, and is there anything else I should be looking at in relation to these symptoms?

Thanks in advance...

Steven

* I call it a ratchet tongue - but that may not convey anything to anyone else - a small white plastic lever that looks as if it clicks against the cogwheels

I have a similar problem with an Indesit w93 model 233300101 TYpe number LB2000c insofar as it does nothing e.g. fill, but after a few seconds just winds itself round to the "end" position. The controller is an 1865/1/0.02 C23401 28/03/01 - am I right in assuming this is faulty & if so, any ideas where I can get a replacement ?

While the knob is clicking round the light is flashing a code to you.
Count the flashes between pauses. Post the result here.

Thanks, unfortunately I'm not "on site" this morning but I rang the Washing Machine Queen and asked her to try it. As [bad] luck would have it she was in mid-baby-feeding mode so the tests weren't conclusive; the light stayed on; flashed twice then so fast she couldn't count it, then baby demanded attention.

I'm away for a week now but will pursue this on my return, please check in a couple of days later.
