OK. One of three types. You may have a spider across the back of the tub (3 legs) and it's this piece that has to be changed. Done through the back.
If you have metal tub with hub, the hub has to be changed. Done through the back.
The other type, it's probably a write off.
Unfortunately I don't have the Indesit manuals to hand so can't look up what you've actually got in your machine.
If you look at the back of the machine the fly wheel is held on with one star headed screw which I can not move. This screws into the shaft which is through the bearing. the rear bearing can be seen behind the wheel. The bearing is housed in a casting which is a cross. Four arms connect to the centre section and are screwed to the drum. Each arm held with two star headed screws. [/img]
OK you've got the 4 leg spider.
The torx bolt is coated with loctite, that's why you can't budge it.
You'll need a small blowtorch to heat up the bolt, then you'll be able to get it out. Enough heat to soften the loctite is all you need.
You then take the pulley off, the four bolts out of the arms and then if you're lucky the spider will come off easily.
Thanks sleepy head.
The bearings are out. Do you know if I can buy a new seal on its own if I get new bearings from a local bearing supplier or will I need to buy a kit?
