Indesit WG1030 Washing Machine - water doesn't get hot

Hello,

We have had this model for nearly 8 years without any problems.
Recently my wife noticed the clothes weren't getting as clean as they used to and by holding my hand against the door window mid-cycle, it appears that the water inside on only marginally warm.

Does anyone have any ideas before I call out an engineer and they charge me for callout, a new solenoid etc.

Thermostat or heater problem I would think.
