recently given this washing machine now wont drain or spin. been told to check the filter but i don't have a manual and cannot find a filter any more ideas. thanks.

i would agree with what you have been told, find the filter ( some where near the pump?) or the pump / its connections.
reason being the pump pumps out the water (obviously) so it wont drain, but if its got tooo much water a m/c should not spin.
