I am trying to repair my friends washing machine, where the bearings have gone, but it appears to have a sealed outer drum and I can't see any other way of removing the bearings. Does any one have any advise on how to accomplish this?

Dont.

see here

its very nice of you but unless you know how to do it, have a bearing puller, new spider, new drum seal, a few hours.......

I am not saying you can't, some diyer's have done it, but you have fallen at the first hurdle.

i got a quote form hp to do mine (i used to work for hp, but had to give the tools back) new m/c cost £10 more than new bearings

Thanks breezer, I will let my friend know and we will try to get something else sorted out. Do you think we can get a refund on the bearings as we have already brought them?

ask where you got them.

if they are opened doubtfull.

I guess they cost under 20 quid, is it worh going all the way back and arguing over it? (it may be i dont know your situation)

Places often sell bearings just to get money off you, they dont tell you how hard / time consuming it is to change them (but then they wouldnt, becuse if they said without the right kit you are looking at a few hours work)

So many different tubs for Indesit.
Is there a spider on the rear? If there is it will be held on by torx bolts through the edge of the tub. Remove these, remove the spider and change the bearings in the spider.
If not, plastic tub has a clamp band.
There is one outer that is a sealed unit and you have to change inner and outer tubs.
