I am looking for a mouse or keypad to control a laptop via its infra red port. All the ones I have seen use a USB receiver. As my laptop has IR on the front and all USB ports are in use these are no use. I could use a USB hub but thats more clutter. Can anyone help? TIA

Are you looking for a way to control the laptop from a distance? Infrared is not a very good way to do this because the signal can be unreliable and usually requires the infrared sensors to be facing each other.

Bluetooth is a good way to do this (up to about 10 metres), but unless your laptop already has bluetooth you will need to buy a bluetooth dongle (probably USB!).

Just in case you need any extra support maltaron, I totally agree with Doc Lenny, even old laptops have at least one PC Card slot in them, usually towards the front on one of the sides. And I also agree with DIY Darren about using bluetooth, though you could just as well buy a decent wireless keyboard and mouse combo. Which ever you choose, it'll run off a usb dongle.
