As ericmark posted (but for a different reason) "Can I" is not appropriate. To run new cables from a consumer unit is notifiable, you can do this, but it can work out more expensive to using a scheme member electrician.
I hate the "can I" question, as we have no idea of your skill. However likely you can do it, the problem is inferred stops heating when switched off, so often combined with other heating.
Hi, thanks for responding, I will be running necessary cables and fitting switches and outlets as necessary, but I will not be making any connections at all. I will get a qualified person in to do this. I have run the ring main and will fit socket outlets, but no connection to the consumer unit. I have run a radial lighting circuit in 1mm cable to which I will fit loop in junction boxes and a switch feed, with a pendant for the light fitting. I hope to fit 2 suspended cable spotlight fittings off the radial circuit, and will need to fit transformers for these from the junction box.
As I say, there is a dedicated supply for the infra red heaters, which will be 2.5mm cable. Do I need to fit on/off switches for these ? These heaters come ready to plug in with a 1.7m flex, but I dont want to overload the system, so opted for the dedicated supply. I hope to hard wire these in.
With regards to the consumer unit, I can get this fitted and set up ready to make connections. What do I need for earth bonding ? there is no gas pipe and the water pipe is plastic (garden
It doesn't work as you seem to think. A decent electrician may well be unprepared to 'connect' anything unless he/she has been involved in the design (including answering the questions you pose) and at least supervising, if not actually undertaking, the installation of what it is that they are being asked to 'connect'.... That seems entirely unlikely. The external supply will be run in MICS cable,
Under normal circumstances, I would, needless to say, agree with you. However, given that the OP wrote:That seems entirely unlikely. The external supply will be run in MICS cable,
... I can but assume that ('unlikely' though it is) what he/she wrote is precisely what he/she does intend to do... I will be running necessary cables ....
