Inheritance tax ...

Again brainwashed thinking. Healthcare should not be classed as a benefit its absolutely absurd. If you are paying yourself to have private care you are benefiting the tax payer by alleviating the NHS of the expense of caring for you.
Don't feel inferior im not 'jumping the queue' im merely stating i do not accept the level of care NHS offers considering im paying for it, therefore i want to pay for my own service, that shouldn't be tax on top. I wouldn't need it if the NHS was adequate. Hell the NHS should be paying me for failing to meet an SLA of booking me into to a practice within a week. Zero accountability.

So many blinkered fools just accept 'how it is'. That decides the haves and havenots in this country.

Apart from the fact a lot of private work is completed in NHS hospitals, restricting the amount of work the NHS can do

Not a net benefit, just an added complication.

Inheritance tax is borderline theft.

Anyone leaving enough money to worry about should look into a living trust

And proper paid for advise. We’ve spent time and money on it.

if you are poor: 3 years to wait for a hip replacement

if you are rich: pay the same surgeon and get your hip done next week

according to Festive its not a benefit to not suffer 3 years of pain

Bit of an exaggeration there Notchy.
I'm currently waiting for a hip replacement. Been in pain for over 3 years but told on each visit it was a trapped nerve and was referred to a physio. This year it escalated and I had to give up work end of Sept because there were days when I couldn't walk, previously I've been able to work through it but not anymore. Tried to see the Doctor but just got an appointment with their in house physio, without an examination she told me it was a trapped nerve and gave me a list of excersises, a few weeks later demanded a face to face with a Doctor, he gave me a cursory examination and told me it was a trapped nerve. Went to see a private physio, she gave me a thorough going over and told me my hip joint was knackered and she would write to my Doctor and advise him of this, a week later I had an x ray which confirmed I needed a hip replacement.
Checked out private treatment in Truro, £14k and an 8-10 week timescale, I was then phoned and given various options. NHS in cornwall 56 weeks, two private hospitals in Plymouth (paid for by NHS) I opted for the shorter wait of the 2 and have now been given a date for seeing a consultant on the 10th Jan and if they're are no complications, the op should be carried out 3-4 weeks later, which will only be a month longer than going private.

The irony of that will be the surgeon doing it probably works at Treliske most of the time.

The Mrs has had a private consultation recently. Amazing service and extremely professional. After it her doctor managed to get her an appointment.

My mother’s had a similar experience. Messed around by an incompetent nhs, eventually saw a private specialist and told she needs a new hip. She can wait 2 years for the nhs or pay £17k to get it done in January next year.

She’s paying the £17k as there’s no point having a shiny new hip in your coffin.
