Inserting movies into powerpoint, vista and sony software?

Hi all, I am having trouble inserting a microsoft movie into powerpoint? How can I achieve this?

I also cannot down load from my sony cam recorder to my vista lap top, the windows will not recognise the soft ware? Has anybody else had this problem?
