Hi all. Has anyone ever come across pipe work vibration from the Insinkerator? Mine has caused the thread to come loose at one of the pipe connections.

does any one have any ideas on how to prevent this vibration from happening?

many thanks

1. They do vibrate, which is the reason some manufacturers say not to fit them to ceramic sinks.
2. However, I've never seen this vibration loosen the pipework.
3. For all the following make absolutely sure the disposal unit is disconnected from the power supply. Then:
3a. Check that there is nothing in there which shouldn't be there, such as mangled teaspoons.
3b. Make sure the blade doesn't rock up and down as a result of worn bearings.
3c. Disconnect and remove the unit (careful, they are heavy). With access to the grinding compartment, make sure there is nothing jammed and that the "knife" is not bent.
4. If its in reasonable condition and not too old, reinstall. Do the pipe connections up hand tight, then an extra quarter turn with some grips.
5. Otherwise, replace it.
