I'm struggling to find clear guidance on how plastic frames/lids should be mechanically fixed to the plastic risers of an Inspection Chamber. Riser fixing kits are sold, but these appear to be for metal frames/lids.
I called the Polypipe technical line and they advised to just screw through from the plastic frame into the riser below. Is this general practice?
Also, I've got 7 Inspection Chambers to install, all in either soft ground or in a gravel pathway. They don't need to be load rated, so is it acceptable to not install a concrete surround around the frame/lid and butt the grass/gravel straight up to the frame?
I've put concrete surrounds around Inspection Chamber lids before and they have cracked, as I didn't install any rebar. Looking online, there doesn't seem to be any information about standard anti-crack details for manhole lids. I assume it will just be a case of running some rebar in a square shape throughout the surround?
