Hi

I know this may be a stupid question, but I have noticed that a lot of manuals are not downloadable from the manufacturers website for the general public (for obvious) reasons.

Does the install manuals come with the products when purchased? I am looking at purchasing the Texicon Premier 24 and associated detectors for a DIY install.

Thanks for any advise/info!

depends who makes the panel

I am surpised RFLighting has not replied, he loves texecom and could shed more light on it

The last Texecom R8 panel I installed came with an installation manual, might even have it in pdf format somewhere.

Sorry, I've been busy working

The premier 24 is supplied with installer and user manuals, and failing that I can E-mail them to you as a PDF file.

The installer manual for this panel is only about 1/4" thick :D

Hi RF -

Is there any chance of emailling the PDF installer to me so I can read up on it before I purchase? Oh, and if you could, any other install manual I might need for the other components etc. :D - bit cheaky but hey!

Thanks for your help,

I've sent you the installation and user manuals for the Premier 24 panel. (beat the mods to your address  )

What detectors / other components are you planning to use?

I have too many manuals to guess what you might be installing.

There are lots of detector types and styles, not to mention RKPs SABs etc.

Sorry Mods - am I bad!!

Thanks RF for the manuals - much appriciated!

I think I now know what I want:

Battery
Flush Mount LCD Remote Keypad Proximity Tag White
Premier Proximity Tags
Prestige Compact PIR
Surface Contacts

I am a bit confused on the communications boards I will need though. I would like either to be SMS text messaged or be voice called on an alert eg 'Doh! You house is being ransacked!'. Could you advise on which devices I would require to achieve this.

I assume I would at least need the 'Com2400 Plug On Digicom / 2400-baud modem', but I have noticed on one site the GSM module is over £300. Do I need this for text messenging? Is there a cheaper solution?

Also can you advise on an internal (not external) sounder please as I do not want one outside.

Thanks for your help!

I have a prem88 panel at home fitted with the com2400 modem, which semds me SMSs. If you are connecting this to a standard phone line then a GSM module is not required.

For an internal sounder either fit a standard speaker which will also sound with set / unset tones, chimes, and alarms etc, or fit a sound bomb which is VERY loud, but will only sound a siren if the system goes into 'alarm'

It sends you a message like this:

Now I know it is quite a bit more money, but I would reccomend prestige AMQD plus detectors. They are dual techs, so will greatly reduce false alarms, and also have an anti masking function built in. (they also have all the EOL resistors built in, so they run off 4 wires)

the only problem is if you lose you keys or they get nicked, then the crim can turn your alarm off aswell, but I have proxy tags at home

thanks for the info RF!

I assume the GSM unit is only required for controlling the panel from the mobile then?

Will the panel with the com2400 be able to send texts 'out of the box' (after config) or will I require anything else setup at BT or whatever. Is it a subscription service?
