Hi there folks...
I have just removed my ugly gas fire and now wish to fit a log burning fire in its place. I am considering either a full Victorian style cast insert or a cast iron firebasket. I'm guessing the firebasket is simpler to install but is there any issue with the brickwork inside the fireplace? Does the chimney need lining with fire bricks or similar if I use an open firebasket? Does it make any difference if I use a firebasket with back plate?
Any advice much appreciated.
Thanks
Keefa
