Ello, I need some advice for my next DIY project - Installing a cooker hood with out destroying the house.

Heres the problem. If you picture the cooker in front of you, the only wall I have leading outside is to your left - So the hood needs to be attached to the wall opposite you and the ducting needs to run out of its side along the wall and through the wall on your left...

I was looking at a chimney hood, but how would I run my choice of ducting out of its stainless steel side? Does the ducting run out of its TOP and then left towards the wall leading outside? Or is a chimney hood only good if its mounted on the wall its running through so it hides the ducting?

As you can tell I've never installed a cooker hood before, i'll be fine installing the fuse box I just need to know the best way to connect a hood to my outside vent using a rectangular duct, any suggestions?

Cheers.

Thanks - That makes sense.

I CAN run the ducting flat across the ceiling, so I guess I would attach the hood to the wall, leave a small space at the top for the hose, and then use ducting to hide the hose running from the top of the hood to the hose?

One other question, whats the diameter of the hose itself? Im guessing its around 3-6 inches, approx?

Cheers again

Your guess is correct: as for fitting, take the chimney to the ceiling & cut the exit side around the ducting rather than leave a gap all round
