Installing A Shower Pump

Hi,

We need to have a shower pump fitted as the existing gravity fed system doesn't feed the hot water adequately enough.

I'm concerened that the pump may be noisy and wonder if anyone can give any advice as to whick make of pump to go for - it only needs to feed one shower.

The hot water tank / airing cupboard is directly above the lounge, which is where the pump will have to be located so we need it to be as quiet as possible.

Hi MoonPig, I assume that if you want to pump just the hot water then the cold water is direct off the rising mains?

If this is the case I would select a Monsoon universal single pump. pump size 2.0 bar 3.0 bar etc depends on what the shower requires, what cold mains pressure you are trying to match V's what you want as a consumer.

The monsoon range of pump are brass ended and regarded as one of the quietest/robust pumps on the market. However all pumps make some noise.

The noise can be minimised with a good installation/insulation.

He doesn't only want to pump the hot. He wants to pump hot and cold to one shower!

Placing the pump on some sort of insulating material (like carpet) will reduce noise transfer through the ceiling. You won't silence it completely and don't think about building a box around the pump to quieten it - it will over heat.

You may be able to put the tank in the loft.
