Hi,
I’m wanting to install a reclaimed cast iron fireplace and have removed a good amount of plaster from the brickwork to see if we had a suitable arch/lintel.
As you can see from the pictures I’ve revealed a row of bricks that are laid with their ends facing outwards but they aren’t really forming much of an arch and in the top left hand corner it looks like this row stops suddenly. Do you think this is a supportive arch so I can remove the bricks underneath?
The row I’ve uncovered is about 32’/80cm high. Is it possible there’s a lintel higher up? This is in the front room of a late Victorian two up two down terrace.
Cheers!
