Hello! We're wanting to change our double light switch to a double dimmer switch. One switch for the 2 wall lights and another switch for the ceiling light.

This is our current switch wiring

And this is the new dimmer switch.

Could someone please help with advice on which wire goes where in the new switch?

Thanks

Don't want to sound unhelpful, but what do the new switch instructions say?

I would have said alternating current so does not matter, however amendment three seems to say it does matter, and wrong way around can leave components energised?

"Amendment three" ?

As we (in Australia) are wont to ask - to parody a certain politician - "Please Explain"

It has been realised here in the UK, that some RCD, MCB, and RCBO devices have components which if used the wrong way around will remain live after the device has tripped, and with solar panels and EV charging the energy flow can be in either direction, so we need a device designed so there is no load side or supply side. So the words bidirectional and unidirectional have been used to indelicate which devices can be used where.

The amendment has only just been released, the major problem is to work out with older devices which are bidirectional and which are unidirectional, as it seems common mouldings were used, so some bidirectional devices still have load marked on them. Also the reverse, some unidirectional devices have nothing marked on them to tell one they are unidirectional devices.

Since the amendment is only a few days old, it has been talked about a lot.
