Hello

Looking for some guidance on type and installation of lintel.

Property is a two storey house with cavity walls each 100mm thick built from hollow concrete blocks with rendered finish. Roof is pitched with slates and truss system.

I am planning to install a new window in the first flooor on a side wall. The window will be 500mm wide by 900mm high. A new opening is required

Do I even need a lintel for such a narrow opening? If I do, would I be best with a concrete lintel under each leaf or a catnic type cavity wall lintel? Do I need cavity trays / closers? I have installed lintels in the past but these have been concrete in solid wall.

Cheers

Yes a proprietary catnic type with CT above, though render may mean it's pointless.
