Installing Pull Cord in Bathroom!!

Help required.....

Just trying to replace pull cord switch and appear to have more wires than I know waht to do with.

There are 2 Red, 2 Blue, 2 Green/Yellow and 1 Yellow. Its the yellow which is causing the most confusion.

Can anyone help please.

No, the siwtch is for a centre light.

And what wires were connected where on the old switch? You did make a note, didnt you

Unfortunately roof was done on insurance and old light was ripped out by another.

Still the quest for the mysterious yellow wire continues....

I've got a feeling you'll need a sparky to sort that out for you, but one last lot of questions:

I guess there isnt another light switch in that room?

How many cables come to the pull switch.
What are the colours of each
Do any of the wires have coloured sleeving on them

Can you tell us how many cables and what wires are connected to the ceiling light?

The wires to the switch are

2 x red
2 x black
2 x green and yellow

and one bloody yellow....

The wires to the middles light were just the norm red, black and earth. All single wires.

There is an outside light on wall of same room, however this already has its own swicth.

Just a thaught, but maybe the origonal switch was double poll....

one red live feed, the other red feed to lamp
one Blue Nutral feed, the other blue to Lamp
same as with the earths...

As for the mistery Yellow cable, id like to guess someone been adding suplimentary earth bonding.... and just used Yellow.... Ive seen this before....

Still might be worth getting it looked at by a local sparks tho...
