Insulate the loft

Hello all
I am getting the loft insulated on the grant scheme in a few weeks but I cannot help but think that maybe I should just do it myself with the nice insulation board rather than the rolls of itchy stuff

What is your opinion of me putting board between the joists rather than letting them put rolls down so I cannot put chipboard down ?
Will it be as efficient as 270mm of roll ?

I think you'll need about 150mm of PIR insulation board to satisfy the minimum requirement equivalent to 250mm mineral wool.
