Hi All,

I have a 1970s house with cavity wall and an integral garage that the previous owners converted to a bathroom, including strapping the walls out with 3x2 and some poorly fitted 70mm PIR. We recently ripped out the bathroom to convert it to a playroom for a soon to arrive baby.

I'd appreciate any thoughts on the pros and cons or best option from the following. The room is 5.4x2.6m so trying to reduce any any further narrowing of the room. 2 walls are internal and 2 external, both with cavity walls.
  • Strap the walls with 3x2, 70mm PIR and 12.5mm plasterboard
  • Strap the walls with 2x2 and 40mm, 25mm overboard and then 12.5mm plasterboard
  • Dot/dab and mechanically fix 40/12.5 insulated plasterboard
Thanks,
MR
