we are renovating an old church hall into a dwelling. at present there is no insulation so we are planning on insulating in the next couple of weeks.

we plan to put 72mm insulating dry line plasterboard on all exterior walls right on the tongue and groove, and 20mm rigid straight on the floorboards covered with a vapour barrier then osb and underfloor heating mats (electric) . above we are going to put 2x6 joists spanning the 20' width and plaster board soley to put up 270mm insuation.

the walls will also have 100mm rockwool between the joists, when we take off the exterior cladding and replace it with render.

the windows are single glazed and will be for the foreseeable.

if anyone has any suggestions, comments or any common sense help that i may not of thought of please let me know. i am no insulation specialist so would appreciate any input.

The single most important design issue is vapour control. The vapour barrier must be properly installed and in the correct position. Otherwise the walls will run with water internally and you'll rot the building in no time. Advice from a suitably qualified surveyor or the insulation manufacturer is probably the best option.
