Hi all,

Looking for some advice on insulting the eaves in my loft extension. The loft extension was roughly done in 2010, but the room can be cold at times during winter. Looking into the eaves they have insulated the 4 walls of the loft space, but under the rafters in the eaves these have not been insulated. There is a breathable membrane for part of the roof, but not the rest (not sure why). There is also about 300mm of rockwool insultation on the floor as well. I have also just applied draught proofing tape on the door to the eaves as well.

A few questions I have:

1. Is it worth insulating under the rafters with PIR board or superquilt?
2. For the PIR already installed is there a way to fill in gaps due to the poor installation (aluminium tape)?

Any thoughts and comments are welcome, we moved into the house 6 months ago so slowly trying to correct the items.

There is 100mm PIR on the vertical walls. I could attach some additional PIR and fix these to the vertical struts in the wall. Would this make much difference in making the room warmer?

That would be better than trying to insulate an unheated void.

And draught sealing of the converted area
