Hi,

I live in a dormer bungalow with two loft access. One is half way up the stairs (pictured) and one is in the upstairs bathroom. Both are vertical doors as opposed to hatches. As you can see, there is no insulation on them so I suspect that I am losing quite a lot of heat through them. What would be the best way of insulating them? I was thinking solid insulation glued to the back and then nailing timber around the inside to attach a seal to.

Thanks in advance.

You will not be losing much heat because the door does not have a large suface area, and is probably hollow so full of air which is a good insulator. Most important would be to draught strip it.

You can fix Kingspan to the back later if you want.
