Insulating outside copper pipes

I want to fit some copper tubing for an outside tap,i want to insulate it with some very thick pipe insulation.How can i fit the pipe to the wall and also allow a large enough gap between the pipe and the wall to allow for the pipe insulation ?thankyou.

can you run the pipework indoors, the come out of the wall direct to a plate with the tap screwed into the plate? i think toolstation do a plate pre brazed/soldered to a foot of 15mm. only the minimum of exposed metal outside that way.

Thanks for that,but the pipe is coming from the first floor,and cannot be routed into the ground floor area,so has to be outside.

Use blue plastic water pipe, the water will freeze but it won`t burst.

the pipe shouldnt have water in it in sub zero temperatures, it should be plumbed in to allow full drain down in winter, it is crazy having a live pipe outside which can burst and cause damage, if the tap is required during the winter it should be opened, used, isolated and drained every time, so properly fitted to allow draining it wont need insulation on it
