Hi,
I have been experiencing condensation on the underside of the felt in my loft and have been reading a lot of comments on here regarding similar problems. I currently have around 2" of insulation so am thinking of increasing this to 8" to see if that cures my problem. Would I need to take up all the existing insulation or just lay over the top of it ? Also what is the best insulation to use (I'm assuming you can buy from Homebase, B&Q etc)?
On top of that I have a cold water tank with only a block of wood covering most of it. Would getting a proper cover for this also help restrict the condensatioon ?
I am probably the most inept DIY'er in the world but will try and do this myself as it seems reasonably simple !!! Famous last words

Just lay extra insulation over the top, they're many difference type of insulation but they are all pretty good, your choice really.

Should have a plastic lid as wood will rot and I believe you can just buy the lid separately.

To help to cure condensation is to increase air flow by fitting extra vent, if you have soffit vent make sure they are not blocked by the insulation. The very best way is to have soffit or fascia vent and a ridge tile vent at the top which will give you a air flow circulation

Thanks for the reply.
I also forgot to ask. I have spotlights in the bathroom, so when I lay the insulation do I need to cut out holes so that I'm not covering the sections where these have been cut out ?

Best to ask the electricians on here but I've seen ceramic flower pot upside down as they are high temperature rated.

Or see this ;)
