Hi All

My outside water supply froze last year :(

I need to insulate the man hole cover.

Should I use kingspan or polystyrene sheets (wrapped in plastic sheeting to weatherproof) and then weighted down.

Any advice please?

Many Thanks, Paul.

Cylinder jacket - brilliant idea - is this a common solution for man hole insulation?

It's one I've used in the past, but I just use common sense, not knowledge acrued at a technical college, on day release etc. ;)

You say manhole cover, but do you mean stop tap box, roughly 6 to 8 inches square?
Something similar to:

Daft idea; it's mineral fibre and will become water-logged, worse than no insulation. Polystyrene or Kingspan is a better plan.
