I'm wondering what type of insulation is required for a warm flat roof? I looked at what my local merchant stocks, and they only stock one type of PIR insulation, which seems to be what everybody uses for roofs. It's the 'floor' insulation, and after speaking with the tech department, the difference between the floor and warm roof insulation is that the warm roof insulation is certified for LPS 1181 part 1 (fire growth tests). They have this because it's required in England.
It seems that nowhere appears to stock this particular insulation and it's very hard to find other insulation that has this certification. So I'm thinking that nobody actually uses this and just uses the generic PIR insulation. It also seems a bit strange for my extension as it's on a detached house. The insulation is ok for cold flat roofs, but not warm as the insulation is on the exterior of the building when the roof is 'warm'.
Does anybody know anything about this and whether the certification is required for building regs?
