Hi,

I'm going to install my new DHW cylinder in a couple of days. I've noticed the new cylinder has the foam insulation around the ring of the base, i.e. the cylinder sits on the foam. The old cylinder sits directly on the copper, which is correct? Just wondering if I should trim away the foam from the base.

Also when doing up the cylinder unions on the coil connections, would you use some PTFE on the conical part of the union or just leave bare? - they were bare when I removed the old cylinder.

Cheers
Simon

I'd leave the foam exactly as it is - it will help cushion the cylinder against any rough base.
Definitely use PTFE and some sealant on the coil connections - you don't want any leaks there when the cylinder is in commission!
