Hello,

Planning to lay an oak floor in the lounge but the house has solid uninsulated concrete floors. The existing laminate is quite cold under foot so want to try and avoid this problem. I dont want to chance underfloor heating and I cannot lay conventional insulation as the raised levels will be a problem at the door openings.

I have seen foil insulation which is only 6mm thick but I understand that this really needs an air gap to work properly. Does anyone have any suggestions for any kind of insulation not more than 10mm thick? or has anyone used the foil without the air gap?

Thanks

Hi,

My house is concrete flooring aswell, I used the white stuff you can get from any good DIY retailer - about £10 per roll - Seems to be workin, as i've never had cold feet from it :).

Foil doesnt need an air gap to hold heat - walking on it will compress air and expell anyway...
