I'm not really a do it yourselfer, but we have a worker who is. He's doing a really good job on remodelling a rental apartment for us, but I've seen a few shortcuts being used. He's up to installing new windows, and I'm wondering if his insulating method leaves something to be desired. he bought foam in cans. Is this how you insulate new windows as you install them?

What are the most desirable products and ways to insulate, when installing new windows?

the insulation in cans as you call it, is a gap filling adhesive  but should also be used with fixing bolts. to hold frame in place you do not insulate the windows as such but seal the frames to prevent draught
