Insurance can they claim?

I was asked to remove a very old green bathroom suite and replace with nice modern white suite.

However, when the bath was removed, the floor and ends of joists were rotten and so the joists need to be cut back new attached and a new floor.

This was caused over a number of years (water leaking under crap bath seal) I am guessing and is going to cost considerably more than my original quote.

Would the customers insurance cover this? I know I will get paid but the people paying me will struggle to find the extra cash needed. Just thought I would test the water before suggesting they contact their insurer, don't want to build up their hopes.

depends on the insurance company, they should be able to yes, but you know what insurance companys are like, tell them to go for it, nothing to lose trying, also of course it depends on their policy

depends on what the classify the damage as ??
lack off maintainance bad installment or accidental damage

Any insurance company will try to find a way not to pay out, so make sure your report is water tight. (no pun)
