Was looking to install atleast a 5 way intercom system but there seems to be little to nothing really out there.

I have 4core cable going from the Kitchen to 4 bedrooms.

The kitchen is where the master unit will be with 4 slaves in the rooms.

The problem I have is no one seems to have to masters in stock.

The other option is to use 5 handsets which I have actually bought but they are too big and not very nice so will be returning those.

Is there any other option out there to make use of the 4core cable thats already set in place.

You are going to be hard pressed to find a low cost system of five stations that can operate selective calling on a single 4 core daisy chained cable.

Its 4x 4 core cable running to kitchen does that make sense

what do you want to have?

Handsfree answering or 'baby listening' in bedrooms
Privacy of communication
Call from bedrooms to kitchen
Private or all-call to bedrooms?

You could also consider a small PBX phone system, eg Orchid 206 which would also link to an exchange line (with call barring from bedrooms if you want).

It won't do loudspeaker paging though.

What we want is something in the kitchen to communicate with the bedrooms.

Separately and all at once if required but with the option to turn off or mute the slaves.

I know its overkill for domestic but put a long story short my poor mum is fed up of having to shout a million times from the kitchen and wants to just buzz everyone to say come down.

Dear mother,
just request the presence of the children (?) ONCE, if they don't arrive in a acceptable time put their dinner in the bin.

If they complain, tell them, one more chance.

Next day, call ONCE, they arrive, if they don't arrive, they get their own, or go hungry from then on.

It might be more than you wanted to spend, but this seller on ebay has an Aiphone high power intercom master station. here

For substations you can use any 8 ohm speaker that will take the power, and wire them up with a push button and capacitor like this:
