Is it possible to intergate a fridge/freezer that is freestanding with some kind of kit you can buy

in a word NO.

this is because intergrated appliances are different, they have no handles etc, slightly different dimensions, differnt hinges and are designed to work in confined spaces.

a certain brand of washing m/c i know of has extra "bits" to stop it vibrating on the intigrated version. and these "bits" will NOT fit the non integrated version of the smae m/c

The handle will come off quite easily and is it then not just a case of not putting the back panel on the unit so the fridge/freezer has suitable ventilation?

What about have the fridge within a tall unit, so you open a cupboard door, then the fridge door? Obviously the fridge would have to be narrow enough to fit within the unit and still allow the door to open freely.

You would still need proper ventilation, perhaps this could be improved by having the fridge on a very sturdy plinth, with a vent-plate cut into the front of the cupboard. The top of the cupboard would have to be open to allow air to escape.

This would, of course, reduce the efficiency of your fridge, probably invalidate the warranty if they see it installed that way and possibly reduce the life of the fridge (compressor working harder).

I really would recommend against it, and instead try to integrate it into the kitchen in some other way. Perhaps have a bridging unit above it and panel sides.

The problem is that the fridge is dark green and I've just put in a light wood kitchen making it stand out like a sore thumb ,guess I'll just have to buy a new one  ,How much do desent ones come in at??

That's a real bu**er when things like that happen.

However, you can buy appliance paint for just such occasions. I was considering painting my dishwasher silver to match all my stainless steel stuff (didn't in the end, too many decals, would have forgotten how to use it!).

So you could buy some of that and make it what colour you like.
