I've recently moved into a listed house in a conservation area which has stained sash windows inside and out but supposedly this was done in error. I'm told the finish should be painted in white. This isn't really an issue for me as I'd planned to restore the windows to this finish in any case but there is one window that is problematic.
One of the rooms has been decorated on the inside to a really good standard and a white painted finish on the interior of the window would not really suit the rest of the internal design. Would it be out of the ordinary if I was to just paint the exterior? If not which parts of the sash window should be painted and which left stained?
Thanks in advance.
