Hi

Firstly I must say this site has proved very useful whilst working on our project, and a big thank you to all :)

We have removed an existing fireplace, mantle, surround and everything, including what must be 1/3 of a ton of hardcore/rubble that was behind the fireplace backing (is this normal to have soooo much!)

We would like to make the brick fireplace a feature and to do this will need to clean bricks and replace where appropriate. My question is what is the best way to clean, any tips on replacing and ideally advice on repointing?

Thanks as always and have a great day!

If you have the patience get the worst of it of with a wire brush and a chisel then go over them with a flap wheel in a drill.
