I have a double up and over garage door powered by a Hormann motor.
When operated the door will open by a few inches and then stop. On other (rare) occasions the door will fully open without stopping.
Could this intermittent issue be a problem with the sensor detecting a non existent obstruction?
Thanks

If it has a interrupted path sensor separate to the motor assy then yes it could be just that it needs cleaning or is faulty. I can't find much info about them nor do I haven experience of them but if there is no obvious mechanical problem then probably like other manufacturers it is repair by replacement.
When you disengage the motor does the door move up and down freely by hand?

Yes I have a spare remote control and the problem remains whichever remote or wall mounted switch is used.
The sensor is built into the motor unit. When the motor is disengaged the door can be opened and closed by hand albeit very heavy.
Thanks for the link but it didn't cover the model we have.

Are you sure there is no obstruction to the door or the arms? Mine does the same sometimes even if there is a bit of gravel in front of the door or a strong wind blowing towards the door.

If the door is VERY heavy you probably need the spring tension adjusting.
