Anyone have a rough guesstimate on what lounge/kitchen wall removal and rsj should cost? Had one builder say he would need structural engineer and architect plans before and another builder who said its relatively simple and that he would just put in the biggest steel he could and shouldnt need any engineer (although he did say to get council to come and inspect which was reassuring!). Many thanks

Having a steel beam fitted and inspected means providing calc's for building control records.
If you can do this yourself or know of a suitably qualified bod then go ahead.
The obvious choice is a structural engineer.
There is no need for an architect. Your S.E. can provide a basic diagram showing beam end bearings and pads.
