INTERNET EXPLORER problem

Posting this on behalf of a lad I work with so sorry if its a bit vague .
He was on the internet and all was fine ,had a couple of different windows open when one suddenly locked up and he got the useual "windows has found an error and needs to close ,do you wish to report the error" etc ,etc .he couldnt send the error report and since then (early October hasnt been able to get onto the interenet as such although live messanger etc work fine ,any suggestions ?

First thing I would try is a restore
Then maybe reinstall IE

My understanding his he has done both of those and its made no difference

If Live Messenger works that he has an Internet connection, so I take that when you say he can't get on the Internet that you mean he can't browse the 'web?

If so, then it might just be a problem with the browser - a few more specifics about the computer would help:

1. Which version of Windows.
2. What happens when he tried to visit a web site/page.

I used to keep getting that error message so I changed my browser to Mozilla.
