Intumescent Strips

Can anybody tell me what size router bit to use when fitting intumescent strips on doors.
I have never had to do it and have never used a router so I should have some right fun and games.

No, but if you aren't good with a router you might consider a combination plane

Normal straight bits can be used in conjunction with the router fence but if you are not used to the router there is a risk of the groove wandering.

You would be better using a purpose made bearing guided cutter to suit the stripsize (usually 10 or 15mm)

did not know what intumescent strips were so googled it

when should these be used in a domestic environment ( or in the house even !!! )

normally a requirement for fire doors on loft extensions etc for building regs
