Buying an item on ebay, to be collected in person. I sent my phone number to the seller, via ebay messaging, then saw a notification of their response, using text messages from their phone number - two or three messages, yesterday. Today, I looked on my phone, intending to make a note of the number, and there were no text messages from the seller there. Doubting my own memory of how the messages had arrived, I checked various sources, and found nowt at all, apart from one message, on my PC, in Phone Link. The rest of the messages had simply disappeared.

Do you mean the seller texted you outside of the e bay messaging system
?

Yep, I invited him to, for my own convenience once the transaction was under way..

The way 'collection' works is - I pay ebay, ebay hold the payment, but send me a passcode/QR. The seller gets nothing, until I get there, satisfy myself about the item, then give the seller the code. Using the code, the seller can then get paid..

When messaging on Airbnb I’ve come across messages that aren’t delivered outside the app. Perplexing

Remove that idiotic phone link rom Windows. It causes more problems than it solves. I use Ccleaner to remove the MS clag then delete Ccleaner.

That is just weird - The entire thread of messages have today, reappeared on both my phone, and on Phone Link too.

Its shortcomings are a PITA.

But I'd rather have it than not for:

Copy-paste 2-factor authentication codes into websites.
Using a proper keyboard to compose texts.
