could anyone tell me where I can get a compatible IR tx and rx for this please?

I've looked through a few and there appears to be some with two and some with theee sections to the jack

I take it you've read the set of instructions that came with the wall plates? What did it say?

Looking at Amazon (link) it seems that the same design of wall plate as yours uses a 3-pole jack. That makes sense too given that there's just one 3.5mm socket on each plate rather than one each for TX RX, but the probes appear to be one-way only; either TX or RX but not bi-directional. A three pole jack socket allows the manufacturer to wire for either TX or RX, so in the absense of any further info then something such as these Neet probes might be worth a shot.
 
Thanks for the reply. The faceplates came without retail packaging and no instructions were included.

I've ordered a pair of the neet senders - thanks for your help.
