Hi, Many moons ago our bathroom was downstairs, as part of a renovation project 5 years ago we moved the bathroom from downstairs to what was bedroom 4, now the bath room. We have no problems but it was a plastic corner bath, I have now acquired an old school iron claw foot bath which i now want to put in as a replacement for the plastic one.
My question is, is the floor strong enough? The old bath spans a supporting wall below and over 6 60mm x 160mm beams with 20mm floor boards on top.
The new bath can ether go across the beams or in line with the beams and will also span a supporting wall below, as well as the 6 beams already mentioned. Do I need to get a surveyor to say its OK? The house is 119 years old.
