I've just had a new fireproof front door fitted to my flat. It has one decent lock and a London Bar. It seems OK to me, although the previous door had three locks. The management company is keen that I get an extra lock fitted, although I don't think my contents insurers require this. I don't have many valuables in the flat. I'm being given the option of getting an EVVA cyclinder for an extra £120 or so. Should I take up this option? My understanding is that this will allow me to get a new key should I ever lose my keys (not that I ever have), and I can get this with the use of a code, which I suppose I could keep securely on my mobile phone. Also apparently it allows me to have the same key for each lock, and the cylinder can be replaced easily should I sell my flat and the new owners want to be confident that no-one else can get a new key.
So, should I pay the £120 extra?
