Is it easy to fit a spandrel to stairs?

I'm not if spandrel is the right term but we had a stud wall removed and discovered the side part of the stairs was gone. There is a piece of plasterboard and the spandrel in wood would need to sit in front of it and then a piece of skirting.

I have been quoted £300 to fix it but hoped I could do it myself.

I can get someone to cut it to the right size/shape.

Thanks

The sloping wood on the side of the stair is the stringer. Have you got a photo from further away and one looking up towards the stair (as in your camera position is where the cable is and looking towards the gyproc writing). Why is there what looks like a hinge on the left at the top? What's on the other side of the plasterboard?

Thanks.

I have attached two more photos.
On the other side of the plasterboard is a layer of plywood which is basically the side to a space under the stair. You can see the door in the new photos that opens into it.

You can do it yourself if you have a circular saw (or even hand saw)
Maybe template it out with cardboard or hardboard if you aren’t confident.
A sheet of 18mm exterior ply is £30-40
You can cover the joins with mouldings

You could use toung and groove panelling if it suited the house.

Thank you. I was thinking of getting it cut for me, so it was more about how I fix it once I have it. As for it to fit there would be a gap between the plasterboard and the new piece of wood.

Would it be just making some kind of frame attached to the plasterboard?
