is it possible to make hot water less hot (combi boiler)?

I feel bad asking this question in view of the large number of people who seem not to have hot water... but... my hot water is really scalding out of my vaillant combi. Is there anything I can do to lower the temp???

you could always turn the stat down

but I thought that the stat only lowered the temperature of the water for heating and that the water for hot water always comes out at full temp??

am I missing an obvious point?!!!

does your boiler not have 2 stats ? ours does (not a vailant though)
