I have a lane that runs behind a property with a gargage and space to side of it. The garage is derelict and the space beside is just earth and brambles. I want to demolish the garage and use all the space for two side by side parking spaces.

Is tarmac a suitable surface where cars will be turning/manouvering on it and the tyres will be turning on the same areas every day? Are there different grades of tarmac that are much more resistant to wear from scrubbing from tyres? Or is all tarmac the same? I'm thinking that constant turning/scrubbing from car tyres, especially in hot weather when it is softer, may wear away the tarmac where the tyres are always turning in the same places.

I remember years ago a neighbour had their old concrete drive replaced by a wider tarmac drive. Very soon it started to wear away in the places where the tyres were turning while the car was stationary or hardly moving - and the drive had to be redone. I don't want to get tarmac laid and find it needs doing again very soon. Thanks for any advice or experiences.

You can specify various grades of tarmac for such situations and I had the carpark done at work which takes a lot of wagons, forklifts and deliveries and hundreds of other daily traffic coming, parking and leaving and we have no issues with damage to the surface. Any good tarmac firm will advise you on which is best for your needs.

Thanks, that's just what I wanted to hear. I know nothing about tarmac and wasn't sure if I could get some that's more wear resistant. I know of a long established local tarmac company, so will give them a ring. Won't be using any diddys. ;)
