I've got my plumber popping around on monday to install an under floor gas pipe for our new cooker and i said i'd have the screed floor chopped out ready for him.

Is there a depth that must be applied or do i just need to take out a sensible amount to allow for the pipe ?

I've not asked him yet what size copper pipe he'll use so i've started to take out enough for a 22 mm pipe.
It's going to have a laminate floor on top if that makes any difference

Thanks

There should be 25mm above it so what ever size pipe you are using add that to 25mm and thats your depth

What size pipe do you think they'll need to use ?
22 ??

I've just tried to bell him but i think he's gone to football. :p

copper pipe under a screed - wouldn`t iron be safer

How would he iron his clothes if his Iron was under the floor?

the pipe needs to be protected from the concrete and have a 25mm cover so the depth of the hole depends on the dia of the pipe and the thickness of the insulation

Ask the installer what width and depth he requires, you can't specify the exact size of what you need to chop out from behind a keyboard without knowing all the details.

 too much hard work for RGI`s now, then ;) Used to be a set of dies strapped to bike crossbar and a spirit lamp in a WW11 haversack - I saw them  and every site they used to bury about a cwt. of spare fittings and a furlong of spare barrel .No wonder it was such a good sell off in the 80`s
