Hello helpful people of the internet!
We have a cottage roof which gets narrower in a 'step' (apologies, probably explaining this terribly) about halfway down. The 'step' of about 60cm has a short run of guttering that abutts the lower section of roof. The presence of a rafter below getting damp when it rains heavily led me to investigate and I've found that there is...
a) a gap between the gutter end and the lower section of roof
b) the verge mortar is in a ropey state
c) there is non staggering of tiles at the junction in question
...all of which appears to be contributing to water getting in and causing problems. I'll attach some pictures which will hopefully explain this far better than I am managing to.
I plan to re-mortar the verge, refit the tiles such that they are staggered and slide the gutter along so it fits more snuggly against the lower verge but there's still going to be a small gap. Is there anything I can do\fit to that junction to ensure water runs to either the gutter or the lower section of roof but not between? I've had a good search online and some sort of kick-out flashing seems similar, but not exactly, what I might need
Many thanks
